`Any attempt to portray the (recorded) exchange between German army commanding officers as simply a game with missiles and tanks is a malicious lie. Germany is preparing
Mr. Medvedev’s statement came after the editor-in-chief of Russia’s RT station, Ms. Margarita Simonyan, published a 38-minute recording containing what is believed to be a discussion between senior German military officers about the issue.
The characters on the tape discussed the possibility of Ukrainian forces using German-made Taurus missiles and the potential impact that would entail.
Other topics mentioned included firing missiles at targets such as the key bridge connecting the Crimean peninsula to mainland Russia across the Kerch Strait.
On March 2, the German Ministry of Defense confirmed that a conversation between the country’s air force was eavesdropped.
German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz called the information leak a `very serious problem`.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the German people can have a direct dialogue with their government regarding the leaked audio tape of military officers.
Previously, Ms. Zakharova asked Duc to explain `immediately` about the recording and emphasized that `attempts to avoid questions will be considered a guilty plea.`
Russia’s deputy permanent representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky criticized `this is a complete shame and loss of face for Germany`.
Recently, Western officials, including Germany, have continuously mentioned the risk of Russia attacking NATO territory.
German newspaper Bild said it had access to a 13-page risk analysis document that German officials prepared for parliament.
The Crimean peninsula, home to an important Russian naval base, is frequently the target of Ukrainian drone and missile attacks.
Ukraine also repeatedly used unmanned boats to attack Russian port infrastructure in Sevastopol.
The Crimea Bridge, 18km long, was built between 2016 and 2018 and is the only rail and road link connecting the Crimean peninsula to mainland Russia.
After the outbreak of conflict between Russia and Ukraine, many Ukrainian officials and commanders, including President Volodymyr Zelensky, threatened to destroy the Crimean bridge.
