`While I may be the first woman to hold this position, I will not be the last,` Ms. Kamala Harris emphasized in a speech in November 2020 after running for office.

With her swearing-in ceremony on January 20, 2021, the former California State Senator made history as the first woman and first woman of color to become Vice President.

Ms. Harris, born on October 20, 1964 with the full name Kamala Devi Harris, is the child of immigrants to America.

Ms. Harris grew up with the profound influence of her Indian mother and the foundation of her father’s thinking.

The American female politician always expressed her affection for her mother, who told her to continue to inspire many others.

After graduating from Howard University in 1986 and the University of California Hastings College of the Law in 1989, Ms. Harris worked at the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office as a paralegal.

Ms. Harris has served in various public positions in California.

Throughout her political career, Ms. Harris has broken barriers to make history as the first black attorney general of San Francisco County, the first black attorney general of the state of California, and the first African-American woman.

Ms. Harris was one of the Democratic Party politicians running for the 2020 US presidential election and made a splash in the early stages of the primary election to find a candidate to represent this party in the presidential election.

In August 2020, Ms. Harris was chosen by then-Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden as his running mate.

CNN even gave Ms. Harris a proud title: `The person who breaks all barriers.`

`It’s the best way to start a new day`

Like any woman pursuing a career in politics, Ms. Harris must balance her personal life and busy work schedule.

Exercise is also a way to help her find balance between work and life.

Cooking is also a way to help Mrs. Harris relax.

`I can get on a plane six times a week, but what makes me feel normal is making dinner for my family on Sunday,` she once told The Cut.

Ms. Harris married Mr. Douglas Emhoff, now a famous lawyer, in 2014. The couple has no children together, but Mr. Emhoff has 2 children from a previous marriage.

During breaks during the day, she said she likes to video chat with family members.

`Keep close relationships with young people and experience the world through their eyes,` she once said.
