(Dan Tri) – The Pentagon is said to be mobilizing 100,000 body bags for civilian use in the context that the number of deaths from Covid-19 in the US is forecast to rise to 200,000 people, according to local media.

The number of deaths from Covid-19 in the US skyrocketed this week.

Reuters quoted an anonymous Pentagon official on April 1 saying that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is mobilizing to have enough 100,000 body bags for the Ministry of Defense of this country.

Bloomberg sources said the Pentagon is considering buying more body bags and will initially take about 50,000 bags from DLA’s stockpile while waiting for contractors to ramp up production.

The above information was given in the context of a strong outbreak of Covid-19 in the US.

White House health expert Deborah Birx warned earlier this week that even with social isolation measures applied, the number of deaths from Covid-19 in the US could still reach 100,000 to 240,000 people.

The rapidly increasing number of people sick and dying from Covid-19 is putting great pressure on hospitals and morgues in the US.

US President Donald Trump warned that the next two weeks could be a `very, very painful` time, `testing the strength and endurance` of America.
